Saffron is a medicinal plant and spice derived from the flower of “Crocus Sativus” and contains different medicinal properties. Saffron is mostly bred in Iran (around 90% of the world production) and belongs to Zagros Mountains. This valuable plant has different properties as follows: Dried saffron is composed of 67% carbohydrates, 8% fat, 13% protein and 12% water. In comparison to other spices or dried foods, the nutrient content of dried saffron shows richness in content of B vitamins and dietary minerals.
